A Queens teen dies in T-bone crash in Richmond Hill

An 18-year-old Springfield Gardens resident was T-boned at the Richmond Hill intersection of 80th Street and Sutter Avenue just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Witnesses first watched in horror as the Toyota Sienna crashed into the teen's Volkswagen Passat as he drove eastbound along Sutter. They then watched again as the force of the impact pushed his car into adjacent parked cars.

One area homeowner heard a big bang and ran outside to see what had occurred. As she tried to make it to the scene, she dialed 911. By the time she arrived at the crash scene, she found a number of bystanders circling the young man's horrribly mangled vehicle. They all were urging him to keep his eyes open as his consciouness was quickly fading.

After police and emergency medical crews arrived on scene, it took more than five minutes to extricate the man from his mangled vehicle. They then transported him to Jamaica Hospital. He died soon after arriving there.

The 21-year-old operator of the Sienna reportedly refused treatment at the accident scene, yet continued to cooperate with the law enforcement investigation into the crash. Police haven't yet decided whether to charge the individual for causing the collision.

One area resident noted that car crashes seem to happen at this and other neighborhood intersections all too frequently. As many as four have happened at this one intersection alone this year.

If you've personally suffered debilitating injuries or have lost a close loved one in a car crash, then a Queens attorney may advise you of your right to file a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit in your case.
